Sho Madjozi is set to fly South African flag at the Afropunk Event in New York – Brooklyn

South Africa’s very own act, Sho Madjozi is billed to perform at the upcoming Afropunk set to take place in August this year – 2018. 

Maya Wegerif, known to her fans as Sho Madjozi, born to a Tsonga mom and a white father. She hails from Elim in Limpopo but now based in Jozi and is a breath of fresh air to the music industry while she swells with pride, singing in Tsonga. She is a young woman who takes pride in her culture and identity; she’s famous for her unique music, a Rapper in her own language Xitsonga. She keeps proving that there is more to the “xibelani” traditional skirt she wears when performing.




Sho Madjozi will be joined by Nakhane Toure of the Inxeba (The Wound) fame. Nakhane will perform at AfroPunk Paris (France) set for 15 July and will join Sho Madjozi to perform at AfroPunk Brooklyn (New York) set for 25/26 August 2018. They will share stages with versatile acts such as D’Angelo, Damian Marley, Gary Clark Jr, Erykah Badu, Willo Smith, Miguel, Tyler the Creator and more.

Other African acts who are part of this event include; Wizkid, Nneka and Davido. Besides music, fans can look forward to the “Spinthrift Market”, a designer market from around the world, the “Bites & Beats” Food, new talent and much more!
