TRESOR announces new album & debuts new single featuring The Soil

TRESOR has announced a new studio album which is titled Nostalgia. TRESOR (in French meaning “Treasure” and pronounced “Trezor”) is a multi award winning and platinum selling 2015 breakout singer-songwriter & producer.

The announcement of the album Nostalgia comes with the release of a new single titled Silale featuring The Soil. The global superstar is taking us back into time with a powerful capsule that he has been able to enchant music lovers with, his voice. His originality and ability to steer his passion into what he wants makes him a force to be reckoned with. In his music, TRESOR is inspired by the late Hugh Masekela, Khadjah Nin and Papa Wemba among others.

TRESOR’s first language is Music but he is also fluent in English, French and Swahili. His songs reflect a peregrine of life shared by so many people on the Motherland continent of Africa, but few are able to express their experiences in a way that captures the ear so universally and directly. Orphaned at an early age, he left Goma in the Eastern DRC after finishing high school and headed for Durban in 2007 with the sole purpose of pursuing a professional career in music. It was a new world for a small town boy, having to learn English in a short space of time since DRC is dominated by French.

Despite the challenges, TRESOR managed to survive earning a living working both as car guard by day and security guard by night. In between the two jobs he managed to hustle his way into the local Durban music scene, linking up with local musicians and music makers and quickly making a name for himself. He co-founded Durban afro-fusion band Maisha in 2008 and was soon playing alongside the likes of Lira, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Freshly Ground, Jesse Clegg, Prime Circle and Johnny Clegg among others.

He was chosen by Intercontinental Hotels Group and Rolling Stone Magazine Africa as the winner of 2012 Holiday Inn Song-writing Challenge.

TRESOR has written songs for Idols South Africa, Heavy K and many other established local acts. He penned two songs for Zahara and also collaborated with the singing sensation on a major song called Limbisa and another title called Brighter day on her PHENDULA album which went triple platinum.

TRESOR released his debut album, VII in September 2015 year. The album – which he has worked on for the past seven years – features collaborations with AKA, Beatenberg, Khuli Chana and The Soil. His album, VII opened at number 2 on the iTunes Albums Chart in South Africa. TRESOR’s Mount Everest (Freddy Verano Remix) music video, a NUMBER ONE airplay hit in Italy and a song that reached number one on the Global Shazam trending list, has reached over million views online.
