The music story of Dj Shimza

Ashley Raphala was born in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni (East Rand) and grew the love of music particularly from his early days as a child.

He debuted into house music as a DJ in 2003 where he went on to win the Red Square DJ competition in 2006 which lifted his status in the house music arena. He went on to win the South African Music Conference’s DJ Spin offs Competition, National VO Bertrams “The Next Big Thing”. The highlight of his career came when he won the Gauteng Carnival DJ Competition in 2011. Winning this competition gave him much needed exposure and start-up equipment. He went on to establish and host the prestigious annual “Dj Shimza’s One Man Show” in Tembisa Stadium (Mehlareng) and went on to play in the country’s big concerts including the Spring Fiesta Spring Explosion also hosted in the Ekurhuleni (Gauteng – SA), Oh Ship and YFM gigs alongside big industry key players like Dj Fresh, Black Coffee, Culoe De Song, Dj Ganyani, Da Capo and Oskido among others.

In all these countries and major cities, his music was regarded as world-class and among the very best.

He founded this entity solely as a platform for proper management of his interests and to also assist and manage other up and coming talented young artists within the South African borders.

Dj Shimza was also a mix dj on YFM every Friday evening at 6pm labelled YTKO, he is currently on Metro FM encoring a show with Oskido, is a VJ on Channel O and has done Deejaying workshops for shows like Ones and Twos on SABC 1.
